Les ateliers

It all started at a small attic at the Tongersestraat in Maastricht. Driven by the need to create “some art” on the empty wall of my own apartment. Inspired by parents who both were painting and sculpturing.

I used an old canvas from my father to create the first try-out, but moved to painting on wooden panels after that.

In-between heating installing and storage racks, on a hand-made easel, I started to create.

After I met lovely wife, LĂ©onne, I moved to the attic of my new house. Kids came into our live, rooms started to have new functions and the attic was rebuild into a new bedroom.

I then moved to the extra-ordinary location of Schweiberg. I took my home made easel there and started to paint there.

Schweiberg is in the most beautiful part of our province, embedded in green slopes. When I look at our neighbors vineyard, it feels like France or Italy, but this is just 20 minutes drive from Maastricht. My home-made easel is replaced by the easel of my father, who died in 2016. This and all his other painting materials continue to live at my Atelier.
